A full-bodied and smooth single-varietal red wine with rich, fruity, and savory flavors.
Malbec originated in the South of France but has flourished in Argentina in the high elevation desert on the eastern side of the Andes Mountains. Our Malbec is sourced from the similarly high elevation desert at the foot of Mt. Ararat, Armenia between 4500 and 6000 feet above sea level. Grown on black volcanic soils, these grapes receive optimal sun conditions in the day to ripen perfectly, and cool breezy evenings and nights to maintain acidity and freshness.

The Franzese Malbec is hand picked and allowed to begin fermentation naturally due to the warm fall days that activate the yeast. The power and finesse of this wine requires minimal intervention so aging is performed in clay vessels known as Karases and large stainless steel tanks. This maintains the youthfulness and boldness of the wine while a 20% neutral oak aging smooths the finish.
The Franzese Armenian Wine Collection highlights the potential of this once overlooked Eurasian country. Armenia has a rich history of winemaking dating back more than 6000 years and is the birthplace of ‘Commercial’ Wine Making.
